Dr. Dan Denney received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama and received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 1988.
A Wiregrass native, Dr. Dan has been happily married to his wife Cathy since 1981. Dr. Dan is a family oriented doctor. He and Cathy are proud new grandparents and love traveling to Virginia to visit with their daughter, son in law and grandson. Their daughter and son in law are living in Virginia while he completes his fellowship at UVA. Dr. Denney and his wife Cathy are active members at First United Methodist Church.

Dr. Gene Nicholls holds several degrees; he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Old Dominion University, a Master’s in Biology from William & Mary College, and his Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University.
Dr. Nicholls focuses on primary eye care and family practice optometry. He is licensed and certified in Ocular Therapeutics and contact lenses in the State of Alabama.
Dr. Nicholls is a native of Virginia. He and his wife, Sharon have been residents of Dothan for 37 years. They enjoy being with their three children and their families, who also reside in the Wiregrass area. Dr. and Mrs. Nicholls are active members of Covenant United Methodist Church.
Dr. Andrew Maxwell has been an integral part of our effort to provide the best vision and eye care available.
Dr. Maxwell received a Bachelor's of Science in chemistry from the University of West Alabama in 1980 and went on to the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received his Doctorate of Optometry in 1984.
Dr. Maxwell is a member of the American Optometric Association, Alabama Optometric Association, and the Southeast Area Optometric Society where he has served as past president.
Dr. Maxwell is a native of Alabama and was raised in the small southwest town of Butler. He is a devoted family man, and he and his wife, Karen, have been happily married since 1985. They have two daughters; Hannah and Lydia. Dr. Maxwell also serves on the Providence Christian School board and is an active member at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, where he serves as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He enjoys spending his free time with this family.
Dr. Megan Walker received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Radford University in Virginia and her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduation, she completed her residency at the Birmingham VA Medical Center, specializing in Low Vision Rehabilitation.
Dr. Walker is a licensed and certified Optometric Physician in the State of Alabama and is a member of the American Optometric Association and Low Vision Rehabilitation Services, as well as the Alabama Optometric Association, where she currently serves as the Southeastern Society President.
A native to Virginia, Dr. Walker grew up in Falls Church. She and her husband, Chris have been happily married since 2005 and are active members at Covenant United Methodist Church. They enjoy spending their free time with their three children.
Dr. Kirk Jones is a native of Auburn, Alabama and earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in chemistry in 2005 and his Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2010. He completed externship rotations at Vision America in Birmingham, Alabama as well as primary eye care rotations in Ft. Lauderdale and North Miami Beach, Florida.
Dr. Jones is a licensed and certified Optometric Physician in Alabama and focuses on primary eye care, including routine eye examinations, glasses and contact lens fittings, refractive surgery/laser vision correction consultations, surgical pre and post-operative care, and the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and injuries including infections, diabetic eye monitoring, and glaucoma care.
Dr. Jones is a member of American Optometric Association and the Alabama Optometric Association. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Brittan, and being with friends and family.
Dr. John Hornsby began his education at Enterprise State Community College in Enterprise, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Natural Science and Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1981, and graduated in 1985, from UAB School of Optometry.
Dr. Hornsby practiced in Geneva, Alabama for 24 years before joining the Denney Vision team in January 2014.
He and his wife of 30 years, Lea, have 2 daughters and are active members at Covenant United Methodist Church. Dr. Hornsby likes playing his alto saxophone in the Dothan Moonlighters band and in his church orchestra. He also spends his free time hunting and enjoying outdoor activities.
Dr. Ashley Holloway Bowers received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000, and her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2004. While at UAB, she served as President of the American Optometric Student Association and received numerous awards including the Dean's Award upon graduation in 2004. She was inducted as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society while at UAB. After graduation, she practiced in Georgia and North Carolina before moving to Dothan. She joined the Denney Vision team in March 2014.
Dr. Bowers is a licensed optometrist in the states of Alabama and North Carolina. She focuses on primary eye care and family practice optometry including contact lenses. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Alabama Optometric Association, and the Southeast Area Optometric Society.
Dr. Bowers is native to North Carolina. She and her husband, Scott, have been married since 2004 and have two young children. They are active members at Covenant United Methodist Church.
Dr. C.D. Denney started Denney Vision with a unique vision for an optometry practice in Dothan, Alabama. With a lifetime of experience in family eye care, Dr. Denney was a trusted mentor to many eye care professionals and was highly respected by both his colleagues and patients alike. He was married for over 60 years to his wife Wilma.
His proudest accomplishment was their four children. Dr. C.D. served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was deployed to Europe for two of those years. After returning, he graduated from the University of Alabama and received his Doctorate of Optometry in 1950 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He will be dearly missed.
