Eyewear Specialist

About the Position

The Eyewear Specialist dispenses and fits glasses and contacts, working from prescriptions written by optometrists. The Eyewear Specialist considers the patient’s facial features, occupation, and habits to assist them in choosing the best eyeglass frames, and lens coatings to fit their needs, while also achieving sales goals and excellent patient care.

Primary Duties
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times.

  • Assist patients in the selection of eyewear frames according to style and color.

  • Operate manual lensometer and auto-lensometer.

  • Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frame to suit patient needs.

  • Continue to stay educated on current brand knowledge.

  • Accurately collect facial measurements.

  • Dispense patient orders.

  • Identify and resolve patient complaints through troubleshooting.

Secondary Duties:

  • General office duties.

  • Maintain cleanliness as assigned by supervisor.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 25 lbs (+-30%) of the time

  • Occasional standing/walking/climbing (+-50%) of the time

  • Sitting in a normal position for an extended time (+-50%) of the time

  • Occasional reaching/handling/feeling (+-70%) of the time

  • Frequent use of finger dexterity (+-70%) of the time

Education:
  • Ideal candidate should have high school diploma/GED.

Experience:
  • Retail Sales: 1 year (preferred)

Computer Skills:
  • Proficient with keyboarding and the ability to enter notes efficiently and accurately into patient’s EHR.

Other Skills/Ability:
  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills with ability to work independently.

  • Ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people.

  • Strong attention to detail.
